Eugenia Larmore Earns Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics Degree from UNR

Ekay Economic Consultants (EEC), a northern Nevada firm specializing in fiscal and economic impact analysis, litigation support, and feasibility studies announced today that its President, Eugenia Larmore, earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Economics from the University of Nevada, Reno. Eugenia’s dissertation, titled “Methodologies for Forecast Modeling for Small Areas with Limited Data Availability and Unique Tax Structures” focused on local government finance topics, including local government revenue modeling and forecasting, fiscal impact models, and economic indices.

Eugenia Larmore Receives Twenty Under 40 Award

Ekay Economic Consultants announced that its president, Eugenia Larmore, was selected as one of the recipients of the 2013 Twenty Under 40 Award. The award, sponsored by RGJ Media and the Reno-Tahoe Young Professionals Network, honors 20 of the region’s best young professionals each year. Judges consider professional achievements, community involvement and leadership. Other winners included the executive director of Hot August Nights, a successful college baseball coach, the chief operating officer of Monarch Casinos, and the principal of Hunsberger Elementary School in Reno.

Ekay Economic Consultants Selected to Conduct Fiscal Impact Study in Maryland

Ekay Economic Consultants (EEC), a northern Nevada firm specializing in fiscal and economic impact analyses, litigation support, and feasibility studies announced today that it was selected as a member of a team of consultants to aid the Maryland Video Lottery Facility Location Commission in choosing a gaming operator for a single casino license in Prince George’s County, Maryland. EEC will conduct a fiscal impact analysis of three proposed casino developments on the State, Prince George’s County and Prince George’s school district to ensure that each development has a positive net impact on these entities and provide a comparison of these impacts and developer incentives. EEC will present its findings to the Commission in December. In addition to EEC, the consulting team includes gaming, traffic, and economic consultants from across the country. Applicants for the Prince George’s gaming license include Penn National Gaming, MGM Resorts, and Greenwood Gaming.

Ekay Economic Consultants Selected to Conduct Study in Massachusetts

Ekay Economic Consultants (EEC), a northern Nevada firm specializing in fiscal and economic impact analyses, litigation support, and feasibility studies announced today that it was selected as a member of a team of consultants to analyze the impacts of allowing Plainridge Racecourse, located in Plainville, Massachusetts, to expand into slot machine gaming. EEC will conduct a fiscal impact analysis of the proposed expansion on the Town of Plainville to ensure that the development has a positive net impact on the Town and its ability to provide police, fire, utilities, education, and other public services. Revenues generated by the project to the Town from property tax, meals tax, and other sources, will also be estimated by EEC. In addition to EEC, the consulting team, led by Will Cummings of Cummings Associates, includes gaming, social impact and economic consultants from across the country. Plainridge is one of several applicants for a single, statewide slots-only license before the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

Eugenia Larmore Joins Board of Directors of Nevada Women’s Fund

Ekay Economic Consultants announced that its president, Eugenia Larmore, joined the board of directors of the Nevada Women’s Fund. Larmore has been active with the Nevada Women’s Fund since her Women of Achievement nomination four years ago. She has been a member of the Women of Achievement steering committee and the breakfast subcommittee. Larmore is an economic analyst and expert witness specializing in economic damages in business and personal loss cases. She is a nationally certified accredited valuation analyst and forensic financial analyst, as well as certified in management accounting and specializes in financial litigation.

Eugenia Larmore Named 2011 Outstanding Young Alumna by Nevada Alumni Association

Ekay Economic Consultants (EEC) announced today that its President, Eugenia Larmore, was named 2011 Outstanding Young Alumna by the Nevada Alumni Association. The Nevada Alumni Association’s Outstanding Young Alumnus Award is presented annually to a graduate who is not more than 15 years past graduation and has an outstanding record of career accomplishments, and/or whose dedication, commitment and service to the Nevada Alumni Association has significantly enhanced alumni programming. Eugenia is one of three Outstanding Young Alumni who will receive this award during the 2011 Homecoming Gala, October 13 at the Joe Crowley Student Union Ballroom.

EEC Conducts Fiscal Impact Analysis for Kansas Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board

Ekay Economic Consultants (EEC) is honored to be part of the consulting team selected to aid the Kansas Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board in choosing a gaming applicant for State of Kansas’ South Central gaming zone. EEC conducted a fiscal impact analysis of two proposed gaming developments on the State, county, cities, and school districts to ensure that the developments have a positive net impact on these entities and to provide a comparison of the incentives offered by the applicants. Eugenia Larmore presented these findings to the Review Board’s during its December 1, 2010 meeting. In addition to EEC, the consulting team included gaming, financial and economic consultants from Reno and nationwide. This is the third year the consulting team participated in this project, having successfully chosen applicants for the South West and North East gaming zones in 2008 and 2009.
